Many start-ups with seemingly good ideas fail to grow beyond the product launch phase or are unable to generate profits to sustain the business. It is important to explore and deepen the understanding of the process of product management, right from understanding customer needs, unique consumer insights, to execution and review protocols for launch and post-launch stages in a product life cycle.
Market leadership can no longer be taken for granted due to the emergence of strong, credible competitive threats with similar products in every product category, whether in B2C, B2B or D2C markets.
So, whether the business is a start-up with a new idea or an existing business facing increasing competitive pressures, there is a strong need to re-examine the unique and fluid nature of a Product from the dimensions of Innovation, Management and Strategy to allow for a sustainable approach towards a product’s success story.

Mahesh S Rao, a TEDx speaker, has more than twenty years of Marketing and Sales experience and has industry experience across Process/ FMCG / Food / Durables / Advertising, 15 of them in global markets, having travelled and worked across 45+ countries of EU, ME, Asia & Africa for business development and consolidation.
He has held leadership positions in marketing & sales of large MNC firms as well as of entrepreneurial large family firms and gone on to head organisations (as their CEO/GM) that are category leaders across both global and regional footprints. In all the sectors or firms that he has worked in/for, he has had hands-on experience in Strategy, Turn-around/Restructuring, Acquisitions, International Business Development, Sales & Marketing (at both B2C/B2B firms), Operations & Corporate Management.
Since 2015, he has been a Visiting Faculty in the Marketing/Strategy area and teaches at IIM Udaipur, IIM Shillong, XIM Bhubaneswar, SPJIMR Bombay, SPJGSM, MYRA and We School (also previously at NMIMS-STACA).
He is also a Mentor for many startups and has conducted many MDP programs for working executives in IIMU ExecEd, SPJGSM ExecEd, Fscher ME (Industrial tools), SASCOM (Defence), SVC Bank (BFS), Adecco (HR Services), Automatic Terrazo Tiles (Construction), AAKGC Group Oman (Diversified) and a Private firm (confidential, Retail) in Oman.
